D–A–d–f#–a–d; D–G–d–g–h–d

Beweisstück A: Joni Mitchell
auf Hunter, live 1970:

Beweisstück B: Keith Richards
auf Brown Sugar, live 1972:

Never deep enough.

I was thinking about “The other side of Dylan’s tempest” – he said he wanted to make a Gospel album. So we have not only to listen to what he is singing, we also have to hear the songs behind his song. Behind “Tempest” there is no Shakespeare, but lots Luke the Drifter and the Carter Family because in their religious Songs “tempest” is a clue word. But our “Political World” has lost the view on Heaven. If Dylan were not thinking of these other sides and meanings he would be no poet at all …

FOLK TRADITION – this tradition is much longer and older than only 100 years. I will soon show you more of my view of the Tradition – DYLAN will be an element of the future tradition – His Songs will bring out new stuff (not like the covers of today). For me “Hattie Caroll” is the clue to the Songs which were during many centuries but are not liked by the music business: SADNESS like you said, I call this EMPATHY a real inner feeling on the basis of a simple harmony like C-Em-Am will last !

This Titanic-Song (“The pale moon…”) was coming from the early 1950-recording of A.P. and Sara Carter, who then were doing a “Carter Family” comeback and recorded with their children Janette and Joe Carter [2-CD-set: The Carter Family “The Acme Sessions: 1952-56” (JSP, 2008)]. Maybelle Carter formed another singing Carter Family with three daughters/sisters (Anita, Helen and June). The last of them married Johnny Cash. The original Carter Family Trio was active between 1927-1943.
